The launching ceremony for the Training Ship “NAGASAKI MARU”

The launching ceremony for the Training Ship “NAGASAKI MARU” was held on 19th October. The ship will replace the 3rd NAGASAKI MARU which has been used for on-board training and marine research for 31 years since she was built in 1986. After the ceremony, she will be equipped for the first voyage next April.

The new NAGASAKI MARU is being built under the concept of “Floating campus leading the field of marine science of the East China Sea”. The ship is expected as an educational facility on the sea to train a crew member, to educate a marine scientists and technologists and international specialists of the East China Sea, and to educate students of the faculty and the graduate school.
