"Assistant Professor Nicholas Kirkland, from the Department of Advanced Technology and Science for Sustainable Development, was recently awarded the Young Leader Professional Development Award from The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).

This award, given annually to 5 recipients from around the World, recognizes leading researchers and professionals in the area of material science who are having a profound impact in their field.

Dr. Kirkland's work in biomaterial science, including a recently published book on Magnesium Biomaterials, has been at the forefront of the area for the past 6 years."
