Ukrainian students attend tea ceremony lectures.

On Monday, July 4, eight Ukrainian  and other international students, attended a lecture on the tea ceremony as part of their curriculum of Japanese culture. Members of the T.N.E.C English Club of the Urasenke Tankokai Tea Ceremony of the Nagasaki Branch gave the lecture in English

When the students entered the tea room set up in a Japanese-style room on campus, the room's appearance was overwhelmed, and the lively conversation that had been going on there quieted down.
They earnestly listened to the explanation of the history and etiquette of the tea ceremony.

Students listened to the explanation of the history and manners of the tea ceremony. They then watched a demonstration by the lectors. After that, they enjoyed green tea and Japanese cakes. Even students a bit nervous at first soon were all smiles and relaxed under the kind and meticulous instruction. Some of them asked for more tea and reviewed their learned manners.

Participating Ukrainian students commented, “I enjoyed the tea ceremony because it was my first experience.”, “It was interesting to find the differences between Japanese and European cultures.”, “I like the atmosphere of Japanese-style tea ceremony room.”
