Completion Ceremony Held for Yeh Kuo-Shii Global Friendship Center

The Yeh Kuo-Shii Global Friendship Center was completed with a donation from Dr. Yeh Kuo-Shii, Chairman of Kinshokai Medical Corporation and Director of Chiharadai Orthopedics, a graduate of Nagasaki University School of Medicine.

The center was built inside the Bunkyo Campus. It has seminar rooms, guest rooms, and a community lounge with a kitchen. It will be used as a place to interact with international students and as a guest room for the families of the international students.

The completion ceremony and preview were held on July 7, 2022, inviting people related to Dr. Yeh Kuo-Shii, international students of our university, and Ukrainian students. Many members of the media also came to cover the event.

The completion ceremony began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the entrance, followed by a reception hosted by Ms. Suehiro, the first-year School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences.
After a speech by President Shigeru Kohno, congratulatory speeches were given by Dr. Yeh Kuo-Shii and guests, and an acknowledgment speech was given by Mr. Hung Ruei-Bo, a representative of international students.

At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Akune and Ms. Yamaguchi, fourth-year students in the Faculty of Education, played Schubert's Three Marches Militaries and Ikimonogakari's Arigato (Thank you) to commemorate the completion of the center. To perform them, they used the donated grand piano.

After the completion ceremony, a preview was held. Students who saw the Japanese garden and the seminar room in a Japanese-style room were surprised and said, "It's wonderful." We plan to make active use of the facility in the future so that many international and Japanese students will be able to interact with each other and make lots of memories in this center.
