English Café event for Nagasaki Higashi High School

The Faculty of Economics invited students of Nagasaki Higashi High School, a participant in the Super Global High School (SGH) project since 2014, for an English Café event in the English support room on December 19. This was the third event this academic year. In May, an exchange event was held with university staff from Portugal and a lecture on American restaurant was given in July.

About twenty participants attended this event, which had a range of topics and activities. The program opened with a speech in Japanese by an Australian exchange student at Higashi High School. She shared impressions of Japan with the audience and compared Australian and Japanese culture. Next, students had a discussion in English on Japanese immigration policy. After the discussion, Associate Prof. Desi Tom gave a lesson on Santa Claus and how to write a letter to him for Christmas. They enjoyed working with university students.
