"Circle K Nagasaki University" holds an event - Floating lantern boats with illustrations drawn by children from around the world to pray for peace.

On Monday 18 October, Circle K Nagasaki University (*2), certified by the international volunteer organization Kiwanis (*1), held an event to float lantern boats on the river near Peace Park.

The lantern boats floated at the event were decorated with illustrations and messages drawn by children from around the world to pray for peace. These were received through the International Kiwanis Student Organization around the world. In addition, the students within the Prefecture whom Junshin Junior High School, Kwassui Junior High school, and student volunteers from  Nagasaki University,  also contributed illustrations and messages.

Students from Circle K Nagasaki University assembled about 180 lantern boats at the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum (Hirano-Cho, Nagasaki City) then lantern boats were taken to the river near the Peace Park (Shimonogawa River). Students carefully floated one by one for one hour.
On the day of the event, the weather was fine, and as it gradually became dark, the scene was magical.

Kiwanis International is a private social service organization based in the United States. It is one of the world's three largest service organizations, along with the Rotary Club and Lions Club, and consists of approximately 8,000 clubs in 96 countries all over the world.

*2  Circle K Nagasaki University
The Kiwanis Club supports activities from primary schools to university students for the development of children's human resources, and the club consisting of university students is called "Circle K". At Nagasaki University, the student volunteer group "Nagasaki Kaientai" also works as "Circle K Nagasaki University." On 15 October  2019, the Kiwanis Club of Nagasaki received the Circle K certification from the international volunteer organization Kiwanis.
