In the Ukrainian Chemistry Journal, an Original Article in the Field of Inorganic Chemistry Has Been Published Online

A research paper by Daisuke Noguchi, a technical staff member of the  Division of Education and Research Support, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagasaki University, was published in the Ukrainian Chemistry Journal.
The Ukrainian Chemistry Journal is one of the oldest and single chemical journals in Ukraine, which publishes original and review articles on advances in theoretical and applied problems of modern chemistry.
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is commonly utilized as a typical chelating agent in the fields of molecular biology and analytical chemistry. An original article regarding the crystal structures of EDTA and its salts based on the data available in the crystallographic database has been reported online in the Ukrainian Chemistry Journal. In this study, intramolecular contact atomic distances were analyzed to discuss their conformational differences.
EDTA and salts thereof have recently been known for their unconventional luminescent abilities so far, and it has been suggested that the intramolecular contact atomic distances would have influenced on the occurrence of luminescence.
The present work, providing a covered data set on the crystal structures of known non-chelating EDTA and its salts, is expected to serve one of the fundamental information in the advanced research hereafter.
Ukrainian people are trying to continue with their daily lives despite of still suffering from the warfare since 2022. We are able to stand with Ukraine. The author strongly hopes that peace will come to Ukraine and the world as soon as possible.
