Professor KITA Kiyoshi(School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health) has been selected for the 2021 edition of the Asian Scientist 100 list.

Professor KITA Kiyoshi, Dean of the Graduate School of
Tropical Medicine and Global Health, has been selected for
inclusion in the 2021 edition of the Asian Scientist 100,
recently published by Singapore's Asian Scientist Magazine.

Now in its sixth edition, the Asian Scientist 100 celebrates
the achievements of the region's most outstanding
scientists, highlighting their work across a range of
scientific disciplines. To be included in the list, a scientist
must have won a national or international award in 2020,
and must have demonstrated outstanding scientific
discovery or leadership in advancing academia or industry.

Professor Kita was selected for the 2020 Duke of
Edinburgh Award from the Japan Academy for his research into the survival and adaptation strategies of tropical
pathogenic microorganisms such as parasites.

This is the first time Nagasaki University has been
selected for this prize.
