Prof. Takamura gave a special lecture "Lessons from Nagasaki, Chernobyl and Fukushima" at the University of Malaya

On 7 August, Professor Noboru Takamura, Atomic Bomb Disease Institute, delivered a special lecture entitled "Lessons from Nagasaki, Chernobyl and Fukushima" at the University of Malaya, which is the largest university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Professor Takamura reviewed the radiation exposure and health effects based on the epidemiological studies of A-bomb survivors and Chernobyl victims. Takamura also explained the countermeasures taken after the accident at Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant to minimize the exposure doses of residents.

Furthermore, Professor Takamura introduced assistance of Nagasaki University to Kawauchi village as a model of recovery from the nuclear disaster, and emphasized the importance of worldwide human resources development in the field of disaster and radiation exposure medical science.

This lecture was reported in "New Straits Times", the oldest English newspaper in Malaysia.
