Nagasaki University's project has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 2021 Inter-University Exchange Program.

We are pleased to announce that the "Asia Intercollegiate Cooperative Project for Nurturing Global Leaders in Sustainable Infrastructure Development" was selected by MEXT under the "Inter-University Exchange Project," which aims to develop global human resources that can play an active role in the international arena and strengthen the global development capability of university education. In 2010, Nagasaki University’s "China-Japan-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project for Training Water Environment Engineers" was selected as a core project for the "Campus Asia" project.

Following the selection of the core project, the "China-Japan-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project for Nurturing Leading Infrastructure Engineers" was selected in 2016. This project achieved its goals by engaging in education and research on technology for the development and sustainable use of infrastructure in the Asian region, mainly in Japan, China, and Korea. To date, 224 students have taken part in the exchange program.

Based on these achievements, experiences, and results, and under the concept of "Asia for All," a regional community of nations, the selection of the 2021 "Asia Intercollegiate Cooperative Project for Nurturing Global Leaders in Sustainable Infrastructure Development” will further expand the project by adding Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the National University of Laos along with the universities from Japan, China, and Korea.

Over the next five years, the project will include double degree programs at the master’s and  doctoral level between the universities in Japan, China, and Korea. For universities in ASEAN countries, the project will start a short-term hybrid study abroad program combining online and in-person training and an "International Collaboration Lab" to foster young researchers and serve as a center for cutting-edge research. In addition, the project will support the development of sustainable infrastructure that meet the needs of Asian countries from a technological perspective and develop human resources that can play an active role on the international stage.
