On December 13, 2021 (Mon.), members of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Nagasaki University (assoc. professor Sunhee Suk, and assoc. Nagasaki Association Management School” online event held by the「Nagasaki Prefecture Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Association(*)」, with giving talks under the theme of “Current status and trends of corporate carbon management in the carbon-neutral era” for local companies.

This lecture forms part of a research being carried out in 2021 titled “A study on corporate demand for carbon offset credit generated by forest management and absorption: a case study of Nagasaki Prefecture”, organised in accordance with a transdisciplinary mission undertaken by Nagasaki University, termed Planetary Health.

The lecture covered policy trends related to 2050 carbon neutrality in the international community and government toward the realization of a green society in the face of two crises: climate change and COVID-19. It also introduced trends and examples of carbon management of domestic and overseas companies with reference to the high expectations placed on them in their role toward achieving the net zero target.

Follow-up lectures are under discussion to be held with the intention of providing more information on the carbon offset in relation to carbon management, and allow for exchanges of opinions regarding carrying out the above current research.
