that the Ministry of Education, Culuture, Sports, Science and Technology
began in 2002. It selects excellent research projects and provides universities
with sufficient funds with the aim of establishing the world's highest
center of research operations and further improving university research
levels by having universities compete nationwide. In the 2002 and 2003,

+ Global COE Program
|
Based on assessments and verifications of the "21st Century COE Program" launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in FY2002 , the Global COE Program was created to further improve and boost Japanese graduate schools' academic functions without detracting from the 21st Century COE Program's fundamental policies.
In order to educate highly competent young scientists who will become world-class professionals in their respective fields under the research base at the highest global standards, the Global COE Program will contribute to the establishment of a top world center of education and research operations, as well as promote international competitiveness in Japanese universities.
