Nagasaki University Library's Original "Tosyo Pan(means Books Bun)" Now on Sale

On May 17, the vending machine on the first floor of the Economics Library (Katafuchi Campus) began selling original bread.

This sweet red bean bun, named "Tosyo Pan(means Books Bun)," has been introduced in newspapers and various websites and has become a hot topic.
The number of library visitors has been declining over the past few years, and there are few restaurants in the vicinity.

To promote admission to the library and make users who spend a lot of time in the library comfortable, we decided to introduce vending machines for snacks and stationery.
Then,we planned to produce an original bun as the centerpiece of the vending machine, and we named it "Tosyo Pan" because of the Japanese pronunciation of 'Tosho pan' and 'Toshokan,' meaning library in Japanese, are similar.
We put red bean paste in the bun, hoping that eating this in the library would generate some good ideas.
This is because red bean paste is called "An" in Japanese and has the same pronunciation as the Japanese word for the idea.
The word "Tosyo," meaning the book, is branded on the surface of the bread in the frame of an open book, and the Nagasaki University student wrote it.
The social welfare corporation Yuwakai made it, and the Nagasaki University Co-op is selling.
The university, students, and the social welfare corporation created "Tosyo pan" as a collaborative product.
We hope many people will try it.
