Vellore Institute of Technology delegation visits Nagasaki University

 The School of Information and Data Sciences concluded an academic exchange agreement with Vellore Institute of Technology-Chennai (VIT-C, India) in December 2022 and invited a delegation of nine members, including deans and deputy directors of IT, engineering, law, and business schools, from VIT-C on July 3, 2023.

 The welcome ceremony was held in the morning and began with welcoming speeches by Professor Masanari Kimura, Dean of the Institute of Integrated Science and Technology, and Professor Daisaku Sakaguchi, Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, followed by self-introductions by the participants and an introduction of Nagasaki University and the School of Information and Data Sciences by Dean Ryuei Nishii.

 Then, Dr. Syed Ibrahim (Deputy Director for International Exchange, School of Computer Science and Engineering) introduced VIT-C, followed by an explanation by Professor Byungdug Jun, Vice Dean of the School of Information and Data Science, of the five-year project of accepting VIT-C students and faculty members to Nagasaki University. They confirmed to continue to strengthen exchanges with each other.

 After lunch at the cafeteria, the delegates visited Dr. Osamu Shimomura Memorial Honoring Museum. Then, they had a presentation on research in the three laboratories of the Graduate School of Engineering and the School of Information and Data Sciences. They listened attentively to the presentations and actively asked questions about various research topics.
After that, they courtesy visited President Shigeru Kohno and exchanged opinions on future exchanges.

 Finally, they held a dinner party with vegetarian food that respected Indian food culture, and the frank exchange of opinions helped deepen personal ties among the participants. They will continue to promote mutual exchanges among students and faculty members actively and generate results in the future.
