Nagasaki University Faculty of Global Humanities and Social Sciences Open Seminar: 'The Seeds of Peace' Documentary Screening and Lectures by the filmmakers.

David-Paul B. Hedberg, a historian and filmmaker based in Portland, Oregon, has used his experience in historical fieldwork and archival research to produce numerous publications and documentary films. The Seed of Peace follows Tamura Hideko Snyder's efforts to spread the message of peace by planting trees sprouted from the trees exposed by Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima throughout Oregon, USA.
The seeds of trees that survived the atomic bombings are collected and nurtured, and tree-planting activities have been promoted in Oregon by veterans, prisoners, children and elders from all backgrounds.
The film will be screened and the filmmakers will give talks at Hiroshima University and Nagasaki University.
