* Implementation of Admissions Office style entrance examination,
or AO Nyushi, at all faculties/schools
Nagasaki University first carried out AO Nyushi at two faculties and one school (Faculties of Education and Fisheries and School of Dentistry) for academic year 2002 (implemented in 2001) and at five faculties and three schools in the following year.
Nagasaki University received applications from 465 applicants (application ratio 5.5) for 84 openings (5.1% of total university admissions) for academic year 2005 (implemented in 2004). The first screening examination selected 212 candidates from the total of 465 applicants, out of which 85 were selected in the second examination. Admission capacity for this style started with 15 slots for the academic year 2002 and increased to 70 for 2003, 74 for 2004, 84 for 2005, and 90 for 2006.
In this way, Nagasaki University employs AO Nyushi at all the faculties and schools as part of its attempt to receive students with diverse capacities. It also makes great efforts to establish AO Nyushi as one of the recognized selection methods while developing other measures to evaluate students' broad academic abilities and capabilities through the Admission Center.
