In 2002, Nagasaki University implemented its first teacher evaluation based on each teacher' s achievements in the four categories: "education" , "academic research" , "social contribution" and "organizational operation" , for five years from 1997 to 2001. This was an effort implemented ahead of other universities nationwide.

    Results were posted on the internet as a report on the implementation of individual evaluation together with performance standard.

    In 2003, the performance standard was reviewed based on the first assessment, and data after 2001 are being accumulated toward the implementation of the second evaluation (to be carried out in 2007).
