Nagasaki University, Japan invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position.

An assistant professor recruited by this program shall be expected to participate in the following major research project designed by the University.  During the project, the assistant professor will be able to work toward his/her independent research supported by research space, facilities, funding, and a respectable salary.

If the performance is deemed excellent, he/she will be promoted to associate professor or assistant professor (indefinite employment), after going through a tenure track screening.

2. Qualifications:
 
Please refer to the official website for the major research project.

3. Research Period :
From as early as August 1, 2011 to March 31, 2016
 
(Starting date will be settled upon consultation.)
A successful applicant will be employed as a full-time assistant professor during the above period.
If the performance is deemed excellent at the end of the determined research period, he/she will be promoted to associate professor or assistant professor (indefinite employment). after going through a tenure track screening.

4. Salary and Research Fund:
 
Salary: Approximately JPY 7,000,000 per year
(Standard Nagasaki University employment rules and regulations will be applied.)
Research fund (Start-up expenses): Approximately JPY 7,000,000 for the first year

5. Research Facilities and Equipments:
 
Facilities and equipment will be preferentially prepared within the major research project.

7. Deadline for the Application:
  Application forms must reach Nagasaki University by Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Applications missing the deadline will not be accepted.

8. Others:
 
(1) Application materials will not be returned.
(2) Nagasaki University encourages applications from both women and men with relevant.
(3) After the selection based on application materials, the candidates will present research works and have an interview. Nagasaki University will take care of your travel expenses when you come to Nagasaki for the interview.
