International Joint Webinar with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu

 

An international joint webinar was held online by the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences (GSES) and the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu(UMT), Malaysia, on June 23, 2021 from 11:00 to 13:00. The webinar was facilitated by Dr. Anuar Hassan, a graduate student of the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences and a professor at the UMT. Dr. Mohd Effendy Abd Wahid, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences, gave an introduction to the two universities, followed by two research presentations from each university. From the Graduate School, Associate Professor Katsuya Hirasaka and Professor Masaki Nagae presented their research topics. In the Q&A session that followed, there was more active discussion than could be answered in the time available, and the session was concluded with a speech by Dean Shigenobu Takeda.
The  webinar was attended by 165 people, including 30 students and faculty members from Nagasaki University and specially invited professors from Pukyong National University (Korea) and Ocean University of China (China), and we were able to have a lively research exchange in a warm atmosphere with occasional Malay and Japanese conversations. It is hoped that the exchange will develop into a regular event in the future.
